Day 28: April 30, 2026
“I don't know if anyone's ever ran this Horton River from the headwaters where I'm at. I don't think so. I don't know how anyone would get in here... I couldn't find any information.”
Day 27: April 29, 2026
“I'm never that surprised because I don't really expect much, you know, any kind of, "I'm okay, it's going to be a good day today." That doesn't work out up here. Life like that is that way, too.”
Day 26: April 28, 2026
“Four-day warm-up from the south in the 20 degrees: the bears now are for sure going to be coming out. This is game over for them. They hang out in their dens... I'll be looking for their tracks.“
Day 25: April 27, 2026
“Absolutely white out. You couldn't tell top from bottom. If you turn around, you get totally disorientated, and you really have to kind of focus...“
Day 24: April 26, 2026
“It's always fun going over a divide. You don't know what you're going to get... It's really the downhill side, when you're going down, that's much more dangerous, getting things down.“
Day 23: April 25, 2026
“I've had ice for drinking. Ice is just absolutely superb. You also save about at least half of the gas when you're melting ice into water versus snow.“
Day 22: April 24, 2026
“So it was just nice to be able to lay around the tent today. And I took a nap.“
Day 21: April 23, 2026
“I traveled seven miles on this track of ski poles and then went back on it yesterday (or today). It's amazing how I was actually able to do that..“
